I have written a book based loosely on my Mistress-sub relationship with some jazzed up, fantasy elements. It took over a year to write and it has been edited by my Mistress. We plan to do a re-edit, and then the question becomes -- WHAT NEXT?

    I have a couple questions.

    (1) Do you purchase fetish fiction or read it? If so, where do you find your material?

    (2) If you are a writer, have you published anything and how did you go about it?

What do you look for in fetish fiction?

What do you find most disappointing about the fetish fiction you've read?

What's the best book or story you've ever read in the fetish genre?

    1) We (me & my KH wife) do not read fetish fiction - in fact any fiction
    2) We do read experiences of chaste males & their key holders
    3) When we can have immense enjoyment in real life itself, why should we read fiction?
In spite of my personal opinion as above, I appreciate you for writing a book
    All the best!

Hi HD. I am a writer, or have been in the past. I write short stories and poetry and have been published on a couple of websites and in a print anthology. I don't often read fetish fiction because - to me - it is generally so badly written. It's like the terrible attempts at plot you see in porn. I'd really love to see well written, mature stories about this lifestyle. It always seems to just hop from one fantasy to another without really caring how the story or characters really work.

Like, I met this impossibly beautiful woman. OMG, she tricked me into being locked, and it's permanent. OMG, she has a boyfriend and now I have to suck his dick or suchlike.

I'd really like to read a more realistic exploration of the motivations for chastity and FLR, the dynamics and what each partner gets out of it. Along with a great plot and characters with conflict, good writing and a story arc that doesn't just end with a predictable wankfest. Not asking for much really eh?

https://kdp.amazon.com/ You can publish free to the kindle store as an ebook, and get profits, that would be what I would do. I don't think you would get a traditional publisher route for this. 50 shades of grey only made it because it was an online sensation first. So edit and polish until it's perfect, get it in the store and promote, nag on every fetish forum you can find. Also, maybe make a twitter account for news of the book for fans.

Probably pretty good advice. This is an actual story with some complexity to it. There are several characters and varied scenes. Some things are based in real life others on fantasy.

We laid the work down some 90 days ago. We plan to review it. Then we'll see. I just kind envision the book getting lost in shuffle of crap out there, and I'm also kind of interested to actually have another person read it for feedback. One step at a time, I suppose

I don't write books but I do read when I get the time. I would agree with what Paulie said.and also add if it is to complex people will give up very quickly. Keep to the KISS Principle which is keep it simple stupid.
would you post the first two pages and see what everyone thinks.

This might be the route I take. Any other avenue seems impossible.

I read a lot of fiction and non-fiction, including a few Femdom airport-type novels which were pretty awful. It doesn't seem to be a genre that many skilled authors immerse themselves in these days, at least I haven't come across any yet. I'm open to suggestions. The few that I've read seem to dispense with well-drawn characters and plot in favour of poorly written colour-by-numbers fantasy scenarios that don't have much in common with real life. To me, the reality of a committed FLR seems far more exciting than some hack writer's less than inspired concept of how he or she thinks it is.

There are decent Femdom stories that have been around for years, including: Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's 'Venus In Furs' (the Artist Guido Crepax does an excellent illustrated version of this which is worth getting if you can find it); some of DeSade's women are wonderful to behold; I don't know if 'The Torture Garden' quite fits the theme, but it is a curiously erotic and beautifully written tale of a depraved Domina and her adventures in the ghastly garden with her beloved man.

I look forward to reading yours.

I've stalled on the publication for personal reasons and the actual act of publishing while be a first time author with no connections has left me unsure of what steps to take. I just haven't plunged into Amazon, partly for fear of seeing the work disappear into a morass of bad, self-published fiction.
