I was just going through some old posts and noticed some names that I have not seen in awhile. I suppose as time goes by, things change and people lose interest, or worse, I am sure some have passed away! It saddens me that so many the I have spoken or chatted with have left this site for whatever reason. It also saddens me that so many do not use the chat rooms here. The staff here has worked so hard to create this feature and it is not being used! It would be wonderful if somehow we could extend an invitation to return to some of these people. There were so many I thought I was establishing friendship with that have left this site for whatever reason. Oh well, just my thoughts for today! Time to move on, I guess!
For me I simply don't have the time to use chat or I'm interrupted too often with family stuff to get a decent conversation going. I used to enjoy multiplayer online game's until I had children and there is no pause in those kind of games.
People come and people go. This is the same on most sites. I have tried to get members to use the chatroom on here but thy all seem intent on using the popup chat, which as you all know is a one to one chatroom. On most sites this doesn't exist and any member who wants to chat must use the public chatroom, many of which have a one to one option on them. These chatrooms are usually awash with users. I feel that the problem that no one uses the public chatroom on here is that the popup chat is entirely separate.
Great post Chastesoon. I agree. The feature is a great one. One I have used to good effect so far. I think it should be used more....a lot more. Jason
Personally I don't like using chatrooms as a rule regardless of what site I'm on. I'm not a fan jumping into existing conversations, where in person or in text. It feels awkward to me. My few experiences using chatrooms felt awkward as a result. Not that anyone was rude or there were issues. Just my two cents on the topic of chatroom usage.
I agree with your comments, and if there are contact details available for formerly keen members it would be nice to ask them to return.
