My Queen has a Scottish terrier mix named Pepper. She hates me. At first I thought he was afraid of me, but that she would warm up to me, especially since I'm the one feeding her and taking her to do her business and since a lot of the time it's just us two pets in the house. Even when I take her to do her business I have to put her on a leash because there is no way she's going to come when I can her.

I don't think she's afraid of me. I just think she wants nothing at all to do with me. She stays away from me. If I offer her a test she will take it from my hand and then retreat and stare at me as if to say I like the treat but not you, Bucko.

She still will not let me pet her.

The thing is my mother was allergic to dogs, so we never had one. And as I've heard a million times before, my dad and my hair sister had a dog named Rocket who they had to give up when my dad married my Mom. Dad thought it was with it. Beth (my sister) not so much. I've never had a dog but always wanted one but my life situation was such that I couldn't have one of my own.

Now there's one in the house where I'm staying and she wants nothing to do with me.

Is there a way to win her over or will she hate me until the day she dies.

Sounds like you need to start with proving to the dog that you are dominant. Otherwise it has no need to please you at all.

I don't think you and dogs are a good mix
Find a partner that does not think its ok to keep other sentient beings as pets for their own amusement... ...unless of course its your yourself

Go outside, and take a really big in breath. Does it smell like bullshit to you?

    It does to me.

Anway. I think you need to talk to the dog and confirm whether it's pronouns are he or she, or Sir or Goddess, or th or th, or ey or eir.

It smells exactly like it was: autocorrect gone amuck or possibly sloppy swipe texting. It happened several times in this post.

    She for he.
    Can for call
    Test for treat.
    Hair sister for half sister.

The only bullshit going on is my failure to proofread. It got you too, by using it's instead of its.

But thanks for pointing out I need to do a better job proofing texts. It looks like it's [not its] something we can both stand to work on.

    Cheers,
    Bryce

The problem may be that you are not a “dog person”! Dogs can sense who likes dogs. I have a neighbor that all my dogs have barked at him, not his wife or children, just him! He has never done anything to my dogs, he just isn’t a “dog person” and somehow they sense that!

Some dogs are just assholes. It's funny the number of people who won't accept that.

We have 3 dogs and a big cat the dogs love both of us though the lurcher tends to be around me most but the cat won’t have much to do with my lady unless she has too.
I think mostly it’s because I play with them all a lot and the cat and lurcher especially love that
