If you and David are both to be KHs then David or you could unlock Pippa when the other's not there. Would you want that? But you could put the keys in a lockbox and give David the lockbox key. That way Pippa'd be double-locked properly.
We have asked David to be a witness at the wedding, it tickled my fancy to have him having some kind of control over our wedding,but as we have a very vanilla family attendance we couldn't make it a more official and obvious involvement.... But David and I have planned something rather special for us on a later date... But he will be there on the wedding day, at the service and the reception! i wouldn't have it any other way. David and I decided that if Pippa does come out then Pippa and i both have to ask David... mind you Pippa will have to convince me i want to ask David lol.
