showering metal cage

Does anyone here know if it’s ok for me to shower whilst wearing my new stainless steel cage? I read one thing on here about something going wrong with the lock and I am now suddenly rather concerned that the lock might rust and the key simply won’t open the cage!! Hopefully just a panic...
