Private chat not working right...

A friend sent me a private chat message and I posted a reply, but the next message I tried to send created this error: "The server took too long to respond! : ( " and it's still happening.

This problem is still persisting... I've had several people this past month open a private chat with me and every time I send a reply, it keeps saying "The server took too long to respond..."
