I had a CK with handles and the handles were a mistake then CK went out of business. I had a Jailbird on the way but wanted a plastic cage as well. Rooster Cage was having a sale so bought one on a whim.
The customer service was good. The cage took a bit over a month to arrive. But I won’t be wearing it.
First issue I noticed is it was only smooth on the base ring. The interior of the cage was pretty rough. For the short time I wore it, it wasn’t uncomfortable at all but it’s pretty clear they only care about the texture of the base ring. But at $200 for a fully custom cage, you can’t be too picky.
But the deal breaker was the fit between the ring and the cage.. it took quite a bit of force to get them together (and I pinched the hell out of myself in the process). And once together, there was a good amount of play between the two. Holding it in my hand with the lock in place, I could shake the cage and it would actually rattle. Wearing it, I could feel a clicking sensation as it flexed. I think they have some more work to do in designing their mating system.
Andrew over there said the issues were due to the white silk color and that it was difficult to work with. I don’t know but it’s not like the issues were subtle. If it was that difficult to work with and cages were coming out this poorly, you’d think they wouldn’t offer it (they announced the color on r/RoosterCage, it’s not on their website yet). Anyway, he offered to reprint it at no cost but during that time CK came back into operation and so I just didn’t see myself ever wearing it even if they did fix all the issues. I told them never mind but I didn’t need a refund or anything. It is a pretty color though. Looks like the inside of a oyster shell.. just not as smooth lol.
If you’re getting a ringless cage, it would probably be fine but I wouldn’t get a ball trap device from them until they figure out how to do a mating system. I would hope the PA hook would be smooth as I imagine it would be uncomfortable if it wasn’t.
Another option to look at if you’re wanting ball trap devices with PA hooks is BAWR.. they have semi-custom resin cages with SS PA hooks for $100. I bet these were fit-test cages (he prints two, one for the customer and one for his reference) and the customer never came back and ordered the real cage. Anyway, he has them in various lengths and inner-diameters:
