One solution to being too horny to sleep is to get up earlier, avoid day napping, do low intensity exercise, and work on letting your body relax at night. You'll be so tired, you'll sleep through the night even if horny.
 
I actually went to bed early last night because I was tired from work yesterday, so I’m kind of already doing that… I think what triggered it was I had to get up to pee in the middle of the night. If it weren’t for that, I likely would’ve slept through just fine.

There is also another little well known trick to get to sleep (or go back to sleep). If you get a podcast or audiobook and listen to it at either 2-3x speed or 0.5x speed, it will often send you to sleep quickly. Faster works stunningly well for me, but not slower. Try both and see which works for you. Also if the content is monotone non-fiction (eg listening to economics/history) or some pompus fiction (eg Wodehose/Wilde/Shakesphere) you'll also get the great results.

Well, I appreciate the thought but I doubt it’ll work for me… I have ADHD, so me and books never gel’d and little things keep me awake so an audio book is liable to keep me up all night. If you got another idea, then I’m all ears.

The technique still should work great. Just go faster again until you find the right speed that will exhaust you trying to keep up with it. Also ADHDs tend to be hyper interested in some things and completely disinterested in others. That's why it's important not to go for anything too interesting. Again, I find Wodehouse works a treat for me. Kids books like Carroll and Dahl are also quite dreamy and easy to drift off to.

Yeah, I hear you on that last part… People tend to say I get obsessed over normal things like hobbies and interests, but I learn far more than the average person in a shorter timeframe as a result of the “obsessiveness”.

Anyway, most people say they are ADHD when in reality they are just lazy and can't control their own minds. I blame too much TV, computer games, instant gratification, scrolling social media, beinig an entitled inhabitant of the west, and of course, porn.

Exactly. IMHO while some people are genetically more prone to it, ADHD and anxiety disorders are a result of the mind being understimulated when it is used to being overstimulated. For example a child who grows up on high dopamine, highly interactive and highly energy video games (high stimulation), will find it difficult to sit quietly in a classroom and learn about history (low stimulation). Also, to support this hypothesis, people who have suffered past trauma and/or narcotics abuse, also are much more prone to anxiety related conditions (ADHD, PTSD, depression etc).

IMHO the tough solution is regular dopamine detoxes so the brain gets used to being happy functioning in an environment that's not intensely stimulating. Easier said than done, as even thoughts themselves can be highly stimulating. Hence why mindfulness is helpful.

Human brains really aren't well suited to 2024 internet enabled city living.

Yes, the typical feel of insufficient dopamine (when you are normally used to high stimulation but not getting it) will be feelings of anxiousness, emptiness and uncomfortable boredom. Sound familiar? Different people deal with this in different ways. Some of these may be masturbation, self-harm, narcotics, alcohol or rumination. None of the above are helpful in the long term. Excitement is not the same as happiness. Hence why dopamine detoxes, country walks, meditation retreats, etc can be better remedies.

So, needing to jerk off all the time, may not be biological but instead related to boredom.

That’s more than familiar bro, I was a real party animal from my late teens all the way up to about 40… The covid lockdown made it even worse. I got self-destructive at one point. I quit drinking about 3 years ago because it was way out of hand and threatening my job. It wasn’t until just last year that I decided to do something about my jerking rut. I can’t stop that out of the cage no matter what I try. That’s why I decided to stay chaste from now on.

Sounds like we've had a similar journey. It took me a long time to realise that acting out was about wanting stimulation, whereas what I actually need is happiness.

There's also an enormous amount of laziness going around nowadays, it's a plague. By that, I mean, so many peoplle will reach for their phones instead of experiencing a little bit of boredom. They are too lazy to think for themselves or to entertain themselves.
