So.. I'm kinda new at this, so please bear with me but..
after trying several different chastity devices mostly
"balltraps" I decided to upgrade to a steel belt
so far things have been interesting to say the least
getting the fit right has been the biggest hurdle, especially
knowing between, "too tight", not "tight enough" and "just right"

my biggest concern is, do most full belts initially leave marks of some
kind around the waist until "broken in" ?

any comments or thoughts are most welcome :)

My waist band is just like yours and, sadly, it can still rub the skin cause a sore even after six months. I have overcome this problem by making two little padded covers, roughly 3 inches wide, that can be slipped between meand the belt and then fasten closed around the belt with poppers.

I find my most succeptible areas at the sides near my back where the waistband is fastened with the screws. I can only guess that the screws providejust a little less give in those sections and therefore cause it to rub.

Let me know if you find another solution aseven the soft pads aren't 100% faultless.

i found, that by getting it to the correct size, both in waist and in crotch discomfort is certainly minimized
I also replaced the screws with 1/8 aluminum rivets and washers for security, the main problem I'm having
is the locking pin, was actually held by a screw, I ended up using an old cb6000 pin cut to size as a replacement
but I'd love to find a locking pin made of steel.
