How to maintain hygiene in a small cage without unlocking it?

I poke liquid soap in there with my finger than blast it out with the strong water jet. It works well with my fully enclosed steel cage pictured and recently I have been trying out some plastic cages modified to work with the tether. It also keeps them perfectly clean. I have worn constantly for two weeks cleaning this way once per day, removed it just after cleaning and no odor at all. The water jet looks scary but it really doesn't hurt indeed it actually feels slightly good, however any swelling and the water passing over stops before anything can happen. And you really do feel clean after.

I never bothered to dry any cage I have owned.

 

I find bring some q-tips into the shower with you. It's basically all you need to do. You should never need to take it off other than if you get a rash or you need to use it. When peeing, take a squirty water bottle into the bathroom with you and squirt a bit to rinse. Metal is easier to keep clean but I've kept my plastic vice and me clean for months at a time.

 

Unless you are pierced just pull out the back to wash in the shower, After trying 30+ cages I have never found one that I cant pull out the back of. I don't consider this cheating and it wouldn't be much fun to rub one out like this anyway. I run my cage through an ultrasonic cleaner when I am allowed it off. You can also shave/rtim a lot of area's this way but its not 100%, I find shaving every 3-4 weeks is enough for me, it doesn't really cause me any issues but I notice the cage does slip more when it gets a bit longer.

 

You just have to have enough access while locked to be able to clean sweat, salt, urine, dirt, fluff from clothing, sebum (skin oil), smegma, lost hairs, semen, precum, ...
An enclosed device will also create a warm humid microclimate on the skin, which enables bacteria to grow feeding on all the above, many of those bacteria are smelly!

You can stay locked up for months (I have done) as long as the device you have allows enough access to clean the skin properly.

 

I am locked up at all times except for medical issues since I am 72 years old and sometimes need surgery, etc.. Been wearing a cage for about 13 or so years after going off honor system for a few decades (bi wife who prefers women) so I have dealt with hygiene issues. Here is what works for me:

I pee sitting down. Then I use a squirt bottle or mister to spray my penis and cage. I do not use a pure water mixture but rather add about 10-20% Mouthwash for bacteria control. I wipe with a washcloth to dry outside of cage and my balls. Then I use sponge swabs on plastic sticks sold on Amazon. I insert them into openings of cage and dry as much of my penis and inside cage as possible. This has proven to work very well for over a decade.

When I shower my wife gives me two minutes to remove cage, clean it and myself then lock it again. She usually finds something to do for those two minutes like pee or moisturize, etc..

When I leave home locked, I have a pocket sized squirt bottle with the Mouthwash/water mix and a swab. I cut the plastic stick of the swab so it fits easily in my pocket. In the men's room I enter a stall, sit and pee, then squirt my penis and cage ending with drying it with toilet paper and swab.

You can even wrap one square of toilet paper around the swab and stick and then dry yourself with that so that the sponge part of the swab does not get dirty if you are going to be out all day. Of course you can carry a bunch of swabs too. Whatever works for you.

Happy for those who are able to keep hygiene good without unlocking their open tube designs or by using strict and disciplined routines. This doesn't work for me unfortunately. I'm a grower and it makes it even more challenging I guess.

After a week or so of 24/7, soreness and irritation happens even if cage adjustment is good i.e. Cobra Baby. With a more closed tube design i.e. HT Nub, sweat, urine and leakage builup needs deep cleaning for the smell becomes an issue and humidity is an infection risk.

So my solution, fwiw, is to accept a maintenance unlock every 3 or 4 nights. If redness or signs of physical skin alteration are visible, either switch models or take a break.

I wish deep down in my fantasies that I could remain locked 24/7/365 unless wife needs my tiny cock. Regular maintenance seems to be more realistic in my situation.

Not to state the obvious but you aren't pierced right? Just pull out the back in the shower do a good cleaning. With device still hanging on you makes doing anything fun awkward and uncomfortable I'd imagine, never had urge to try.
