Does the hinge on metal devices help against ball strain?

So far my only experience with male chastity devices has been the CB 6000. One problem I have there is the tug on the balls when I try to get an errection. The device turns upward, the base ring pulls on the balls; that is rather painful.

My consideration for this has been a full belt like a CS-100 or some My Steel variant. But they are too expensive for me because I consider myself still in the “trial” phase of chastity.

Now I considered metal chastity devices. At first I just thought of them as glorified plastic ones. But looking closer, I realized that the bar designs are actually cleanable. Also important seems to be the hinge on some of the devices. So the jailbird does not seem to have such a hinge and close with three pins like the CB 3000. A device like this seems to have some movement in the joint.

Does that joint have enough movement to make the device easier to wear? And if you happen to have some experience with a light metal device, would you suggest that spending some 50 to 100 EUR on a stainless steel device would make sense for me? I have only worn the CB 6000 for a day at most. I am not sure whether I am just overly sensitive or the CB 6000 is not really comfortable.

In case I should decide upon a metal device, should I just use the base ring diameter that is most comfortable with the CB 6000? Or should I measure again with some non-streching string (shoelace) again?

In my very humble opinion a metal device with a hinge is an absolute disaster! It pinches like crazy and makes the device almost unbearable. I had an Attica stainless steel cage before I got the Holy Trainer I wear now. It was really well made, came with four different rings which were a great help but in the end I couldn't wear it. I certainly couldn't exercise with it on.

Stainless Steel is probably the way forward but try to get a solid ring. You have to pop your balls through one at a time and then turtle your penis under the ring as well. It's easier than it sounds and as long as the ring is the right size it sits a lot better.

My mistake, I did not clearly communicate what I mean. The base rings with a hinge on the bottom are certainly a bad idea. I never had one but I can assume that it will pinch the scrotum more often than one would like.

I mean a hinge that manifests itself at the locking unit. So there is movement between solid base ring and cock tube. This way the cock tube can move a bit upwards or downwards.

I've don't have any experience with that type of cage but I can say this. Anything that moves or has a hing also requires a gap or separation. Any gap or separation, particularly one that moves has the potential to capture skin and pinch it and not in a good way...lol.

Went from the cb3000 to the cb6000s, what a difference, who would have shorter would be that much more comfortable. I guess less growing room so it can not get the leverage to push out harder.

I am in a CB6000 currently. It does pinch especially when putting it on. If it's going to pinch it will be at the time you least want it to. I am ordering a Jailbird next week and looking forward to it. Have warn the base sizing ring up to a week at a time and have had no problem with it pinching or sliding down. The less moving parts the more comfortable it should be. If I was going to stay in the Cb series I would have gotten a 6000s. It is easy to over estimate your size. My jailbird I'm ordering will be 1.5 inches in length.A far cry from the 6000. I would definitely stay with a solid ring. Hope this helps.

The hinge design is only useful if you need to remove the ring when you are erect. Which is what we thought was needed during the early days of chastity play. However there is actually no need to remove the ring. It does not effect any hygiene routine and can simply be rotated once the cage is removed for PIV.
I would assume that the original design was conceived by someone who was unaware that everything could be threaded through a solid ring.
I'm actually amazed they are still marketing them.

I believe that what you are thinking is a hinge is in fact the locking mechanism itself. This should not any movement that you are wanting.

Please take a look at the images. I think I lead you to the wrong track because the device I liked has a deliberate hinge on the bottom of the base ring. So the following device:

    EDD24_091.jpg

There is no movement up or down. The distance between the bottom of the base ring and the bottom of the tube ring is fixed. Also there is no rotation possible.

    Then take this device here:

    EDD24_883.jpg

There the locking mechanism does not seem to be really tight. I wonder if there is movement possible such that the indicated angle can change. And I wonder if that makes wearing the device easier.

Another example is this one right here:

    sky40194.jpg

That certainly looks like there is a fair amount of movement possible.

    ----

What I want to avoid is the extreme stretching of the balls. See this porn movie for an example which must be painful. Something similar can be found in this video.

An example of the locking mechanism which probably has more play are these:

I thought I had a bookmark of a lancelot video where one could see that the balls are trapped but that the base ring sits close to the body although the person is teased and tries to have a massive errection.

The bizarre thing about chastity devices is that if you get one that allows absolutely no movement the device is much more comfortable than one that allows some movement. That device looks a lot like my Attica, just with a bit of rubber on the hinge (which creates issues rather than just solving them!) The problem with that movement is it allows the cage to twist, either to the left or right, and that just makes things worse.

Oh that sort of hinge. I've never actually seen one in use or known anyone who wears such a hinged thing. In fact all of those cages you depicted are rather old fashioned now.

Hinges devices are man's worst enemy, they are uncomfortable at best, the Nip is painful, and at their worst the latex covering tube that accompany them can cause an allergic reaction in some people..Best stayed well clear of IMHO....

If I'm understanding the basis of your real question, the strain on, the pulling of your scrotum. What solved that problem for me was a cage/tube smaller than my flaccid penis. If the cage is too long (any amount of room in it) it allows the penis to attempt erection which causes it to pull quite painfully on the scrotum. Once I went to a shorter cage, no pulling.

I don't think anyone else directly addressed your question. What you are calling a hinge is just a cheap way to make a locking connection. There is movement at that point because the manufacturer does not do more expensive machining to make a solid joint. It is a bug, not a feature.

You want a device that is very rigid there. This keeps everything in place where it fits most comfortably. If there is movement then things can shift out of alignment to a position that is not comfortable.

For there to be enough hinge action to not tug on your balls the ring would have to pivot away from the cage enough that you could easily slip your balls through that gap. To me, wearing an insecure cage makes no sense at all. If you want comfort you are better off not wearing a cage which is also insecure and much more comfortable.

So how do you get a cage that does not tug on your balls? Well, I think it depends on your anatomy and wether you are a "shower" or a "grower". I guess I'm a "shower" so my flaccid penis is relatively large. I have an MCM contender which is made to the size of my flaccid penis. When I get erect it is contained with in the cage and there is no ball stretch. By contrast, the Holly Trainer which is short on me, would pull on my balls something fierce.

Other guys report that a snug cage that does not allow an erection to start for them works well. My experience suggests that a cage that will grip the base of your penis shaft as an erection starts and not then slip away from your body will be successful. My contender may do that in part because it is bent and so my growing penis is pushing against the curve more than pushing away from my body. Maybe.

My final solution was to get a PA piercing. I now am in a Lori device which is nearly the length of my flaccid penis and I find it fairly comfortable when erect.

But I've come to the conclusion that what works for you depends largely on your anatomy. There is no universal solution.

I agree with the other posters. I have had several devices, all various clones, and some with a hinged locking design as you so ably demonstrated above. The hinges SEEM like they would be a good idea, but they are not. Any movement is going to catch some skin at some point and that will not be good. You want a stable and fixed device. Getting a good fit is important as well.
