    Just wondering what the is the purpose for having a double base ring over the single??
    Are there any advantages??

    Not used it myself, but by all reports it gives a much better anchor: minimises chance of pullout, increases security and gives that 'double hold' where it matters. If I were getting an MM of any sort for anyone I'd surely go for it.

    i have a double base ring and a single. The double offers comfort by distributing the weight of the device over a greater surface area. Well worth it and it makes the difference.

    But doesn't it cause more friction and is harder to clean ? or not noticeably so.

    Less friction because the weight is distributed over a greater surface area. Cleaning is the same. i use a hand held shower unit to really get things clean as i am 7/24/365.

    Thanks laferrij..I will consider it on my next device... Did you compensate in the length of the cage for the added ring?

    No. It was not that significant of an impact.
