I'm interested to see how normal members mainly view the site. There are many different ways of browsing CM, though I've set the poll to show just the most likely used way, and then Some Other Way as the only other choice - as the information I'm looking for will be best given this way. If you mainly browse in some other way then I'd be keen to know which you use so do please add a post to say. Sadly the poll expires in only 7 days, so do please give it a hit and a comment if suitable. Many thanks Verity.
It's a mixture of my alerts and new posts. The alerts doesn't always work though at showing me a thread I have followed, so checking the new posts page is important.
Funny. I dont think of alerts as browsing, just cos they're more focussed I guess. Great job so far - keep it coming folks.
I know I've got mod responsibilities but I still see myself as an Ordinary member who has these responsibility. So I always go to Recent Activity because it shows what everyone has been doing and saying - posts, new threads, profile comments and likes all on one page. So that can lead me to read something someone likes that may not be a recent post, which is good. Notifications are just that really - side information. As a Mod looking at Recent Activity it lets me spot spammers quite quickly
I voted as some other way because I always go to the "what's new" menu option. I don't know if that's an important distinction or not.
I use the new posts and although he doesn't have permission to post, he does lurk. He goes to the rooms in the mansion and looks at the time items are posted so he doesn't mess up the new posts for me
First, I check the alerts, then go thru the Chat Now list to see who is here that I routinely chat with and then look at New Posts.
I check alerts first and then I look through new posts, usually in The Tower. Late night when things are quieter I might browse the rest of the site. Also, during the week, I check in mostly from my cell phone, and then I'm on the train, so I use a browser that strips all the images so I don't offend folks around me. When I'm home, I usually use my laptop.
