So I have a metal allergy and I'm not quite sure what it is yet. When my owner locks my collar on the latch makes me break out with pretty nasty sores. My current device is a little shabby and falling apart. I got bored and was hoping around ebay and there are some really cheap stainless steel devices, does anybody know if that would set off a metal allergy? It would stink to get locked in a device and it make your junk fall off 0_o

Are you talking about a collar round your neck with an buckle which is possibly just nickel plated.

The snobs will jump on this thread and say you must pay 400- 1000 for a device because less means it's chrome plated.
However chrome plating is mor expensive that stainless steel .

I would not expect you to get any reaction from even low grade stainless steel let alone any of the 316 grades.

For $30 give it a go . If your boy bits do go manky and drop off , give it a wash and I will send my address! ..

Lol, thanks, that's about all I needed to hear :D. and Yes, but it's a very expensive collar. But it's more than likely a nickel allergy, that's what people have been saying.

Nickel is a common allergy, unfortunately its also found in most metals. Gold, Silver etc. Stainless steel is probably the most safest way to go. It has a very low nickel count as opposed to other reformed metals, like the kind as wendygirl states are in your buckle.
Best bet is to go for stainless steel its the lesser of the evils.

I had a skin reaction when a `brass' padlock scratched my leg and on and off for months after I got itchy bumps where the skin had been broken. I've never had any allergic reaction problems with my MM JailBird device.

All stainless steel contains nickel how ever the chromium seals the surface layer at a molecular level . Even if it is scratched the chrome immediately forms a new protective layer.

Lots of work was done a few years back, in an effort to ban body piercing . The main thrust was the jewellery would kill you . However when it was found out 316 l was being used which was at the time a higher specification than hip replacement joints the arguments seem to disappear like the morning mist..

Be an interesting stainless that liberated nickle not to mention pointless making it.

    Regards
    Xx Wendy
