Gold plating of steel devices

    A couple of days ago I was in a weird part of the Web and I came across a reference to gold plating steel chastity devices. I cleared my browser history and now I can't find the site.

    The general idea was that steel devices could be sent away and gold plated....this helped with hygeine and preventing skin irritation / allergies. This is something I have had problems with my current device. Not an expert, but I'm guessing it's mild steel, copper plated, then chromed. Despite my best efforts at keeping it clean, there is always a bit of brown speckling (rust) and some green deposits (copper ?)

    Has anyone else heard about this ? Apologies if there is an existing thread....any advice would be most welcome.

    Quite fancy a gold cage anyway ;)

    One of my first metal cages was a cheapy chinese cage that sold itself as stainless steel but was actually chromed.
    I stopped using it.
    Once the chrome breaks down (which it does due to your sweat attacking it and forming chrome salts) it's possible to develop chrome holes, which is what I got.
    All healed up in a few weeks, but not very nice at the time.
    Rusty looking brown spots with flecks of green is exactly what my cage looked like, so do inspect yourself every few days.

    For public record the link was to a website offering products of human leather. A bit too outre for some in the mod team (I didnt mind it personally) and the link was thus removed. Sorry about that.

    I'd kill for a Yakuza man-bag. :D

    Thanks for that.....glad it's not just me. My device was sold as stainless steel. After 3 or 4 weeks, I started to notice that some of the edges of the device were becoming a burnished, coppery colour.....and I realised I had been sold a "pig in a poke". The gold plating thing sounds quite promising to me :)

    Wow... From the sublime to the ridiculous !

    Glad these things actually exist and I didn't just imagine it. Still interested, although the first one seems ridiculously expensive, and I wouldn't trust the second one " really "

    I have found several electro-plating businesses online and I would probably go down that route, as there is no " kink premium "

    I just wonder if anyone has any experience of gold plated devices and if the science holds up

    Just choose someone that gets good reviews. Gold is indeed an inert material. Nothing reacts with it. No metal salts created from your acid sweat, no allergy reactions.
    Still needs cleaning mind.

    One of my clients does high quality anodising (and probably electro-plating), has tatoos, probably wouldnt bat an eye at a chastity device. Money is what pays the bills after all.
    I dare say most other quality workshops will be the same.
