Padlock vs Internal/Barrel Mechanisms?

I have been in both types. The barrel lock has always been better at night while sleeping. I did have to order a solid brass barrel lock for my cage because the one it came with was cheep, with sharp edges and felt like it was going to fall apart.

 

Great link. Glad you published this, as I don't think many people know about it. Since I am making a 3D printed custom key, I personally plan on using Shapeways print using either brass or a gold alloy. Currently it is printed on PETG, ie plastic, and it doesn't look like something worth wearing. But if I did have to use a barrel lock my wife would prefer these guys locks compared to the standard awkward looking ones.

Yes i am in the barrel lock camp too.

It’s a lot more discrete. That said, and has been posted, it’s larger on a necklace so my KH wears a small padlock key there which opens a box within which is the barrel lock key. She jokes that if I try to open the box at night and wake her up by tugging her necklace I will face her wrath for waking her up!

My preference is for the internal barrel for the reasons others have said, generally they are more neat and tidy, and less obvious under clothing. I would be happy to use padlocks if that is what my wife would prefer.

 

Definitely for me I love the padlocks style.!! I like it for the symbolism it does and kinda the mind tease I get from knowing I'm locked up and can actually see it. plus it's a good teasing thing with the keys very frustrating when they have the key in the lock without unlocking or just dangling it right up the lock. plus I like the look of the key especially on a ankle or neck.!! but whatever picks your posion enjoy it.!!

 

I guess I'm the minority here but I'm not a fan of the barrel locks. My wife hates that the barrel doesn't turn reliably, so it doesn't release the key at times when it is locked. They don't hold up well to moisture so there is a lot of 'reaction' to water over time. The barrel can get stuck in the cage guides and doesn't go in or out very well.

I also can't get over the lack of security when you can literally defeat the barrel locks with a pair of pliers and modest pressure.

My own experience with padlocks are just better, my wife likes it more and I like the visual but that's just me. I'm surprised at the overwhelming support for the other option, I learned something from this post.

 

The Wife likes the lock for the mental statement it portrays of locked and secure. It has that always but barrels have highlights of it's own.

Barrels have been on the scene and problems have been few. Think ability to hold up to water and corrosion are very equal mechanical wise.

Use the one you like. Probably will have both in our inventory for the future.

 

Doesn't matter to me, whatever is easiest for my wife.

Most fashionable, good for full time accessory.

 

I prefer the internal magic lock.

 

Rather than having to provide for emergency release keys, we've gone entirely to numbered plastic locks that are easily removable. Although they are rather expensive if purchased through sex shops, they are quite inexpensive when bought through AliExpress. I purchased 50 locks for <$15 and they were delivered in <2 weeks. Once locked they can't be removed other than by breaking the release tab.

 

One downside of those barrel locks is that they are trivial to pick in seconds. Some belts have room for a large padlock, meaning you can pick a secure one.

 

Locks are strong by what they stand for and respect to KH. Not by there ability to withstand being opened.

 

Please don't tell me off for doing kink wrong. Security isn't important to you, that's fine, I respect your choices. In common with a lot of other people on this site, I prefer these things to be secure.

 

I understand you want secure. Any lock can be defeated to me security is a discipline. My wife does not carry the key on her. It sets on shelf of her medicine cabinet. I will not touch it let alone use it without her permission.

I would not ever remove cage without clearance.

 

Barrel lock for me as I'm a cherry keeper wearer. Never had any issues with any of the cheaper chinese barrel locks but I recently purchased a burg wachter. It's noticably better quality and feels much more sturdy and reliable.

 

late to the discussion and have not read all of the posts, but I prefer the internal locking mechanisms such as the Holy Trainers in that there is no bulky padlock and aesthetically looks much better.

 

and as well they dont make a big lump in your panties.
