Hello everyone! I'm am looking to have my husband have a custom fitting. I can't get the measurement quite right. Is there a shop in the NYC metro area that offers in person custom fittings? I purchased the vice for him and the hinged 3xl ring(63.5mm) is still too small.
Is a curved ring better than an O ring? I've read that curved is for tight balls but mine are low, yet I like the feel against my body of the curve. Others thoughts?
Just confirming- how do you know it is too small, what is not fitting? 63.5mm is a massive ring. Is he loose when attempting to put on or is he high and tight?
It's not just the base ring size, and if anything, it's the gap size (which is complicated) that is the most important measurement. The gap is complicated because it's the distance between two different diameter circles which are non concentric, so the gap varies in size, usually biggest at center bottom and smallest at the sides, with the change in gap not being linear around the ring. If you change any other measurement, base ring, cage ring, the gap changes too, and it's the gap that keeps the cage on, must not be too tight to cause pain or pinching, and must stop the two boys escaping. The latter again adds complication by the fact that they're often not the same size, so the gap variation might be too big for one (allowing escape), and too small for the both (causing pinching)! Due to the geometry, the closer the base ring and cage ring sizes are, the less the gap varies around the ring, and the easier it is to find the right size. The smallest comfortable base ring with the widest cage makes for easy gap fitting. At one stage I had two devices that I alternately used that fitted relatively equally comfortably. One had a larger base ring, the other had a larger gap! It's the whole combination of sizes that matters. Most men who do this long term end up going through half a dozen variations before they discover their ideal fit. It's like clothes or shoes, keep trying until you find a manufacturer's products that really fit you, we're all different shapes in 3D. Or, get made to measure where (importantly) they tell you where and how to measure to fit their product, but even then, I think it's better to have a good idea of the right ball park sizes with off the shelf devices first.
The only place I’ve heard of that do in person fittings is Steelwerks Extreme in Canada. Expect to pay min $1,500 USD for one of their devices.
Custom fitting will be difficult and few cage makers will be so keen if it's not their own cage. Maybe a professional key holder dom could give you advice on fittings and best training etc? Perhaps book a visit to a keyholding Dom/madam and show them your husband and you could get advice on cages and probably a lot of other things too
Then, there's also the thought that a man's genitals are soft and squishy and as compliant for fitting in a cage as trying to fit an octopus for a suit. The body isn't suited for wearing hard external armour, our skelton is on the inside, so don't set expectations that fitting a cage is only a matter of price and expertise. It is in part, but because we're all uniquely shaped, your best guide will be your own experience with a variety of different sized rings and cages.
63.5mm is pretty huge. Have you used string to measure for this? Or a sewing measuring tape? Definitely get a set of sizing rings, and play with them (with him!)
I totally get why this service doesn’t exist. But man it would be nice to get custom fitted. There is so much trial and error earlier on. It can be rather defeating and expensive. And even then, you still may not get it perfect.
