Out for dinner and drinks with longtime couple friends tonight. Him I've known forever, her since they married. She's cool asf though should be noted. My wife was home as not her thing. We are not as weird as we may think. Plenty of kinky people out there. Own it with confidence and it goes a long way. That said, I have never personally said anything to anyone aside form my KH of course. I've never been in the position where it felt appropriate (i.e., not having a lot of sex swing and dildo discussions with people). Good on you for getting it out.
