So while I do have a partner, she does not like to partake in being a keyholder. So I need to create my own situations. My original idea was to leave my key at home next week while I travel for work into the USA. I am driving, not flying so no security issues with alarms at airports. I would attach it to one of her necklaces and see if she notices. Then I thought, maybe I should take it to America and mail it back to Canada on my last day. But I read that the postal service is on strike. So it might not get back to me as fast as last time.

I’ve never been self locked more than 10 days, so the postal service strike could be a game changer.

This is where I’m going to let fate play a role in my decision. The Boston Bruins play Montreal on Sunday. If Montreal wins, I mail the key. If my Bruins win I leave the key at home.

J.

Well I thought it might be fun to mail the key home. See how long it takes with the strike. My partner just rolled her eyes when I told her. So likely solo game for now.

well, even though postal strike is over, it is not like they will resume as normal quick. I imagine they need a time to catch up with backlog
That’s what my partner said. She took the spare key and hid it. I know where it is so I secretly unlock myself for hygiene purposes. She has not said anything since she took my key other than I hope it’s not a long strike.

My wife ordered a piece of jewelry about the size of a key for a grandchild for Christmas. It turns out it was made & sold in Greece. It was shipped by FedEx so we could track it. it sat in the Paris airport for 2 weeks without moving. We filed a request to research what was going on and they replied that it was delayed due to heavy shipping volumes. Seriously? I would have been freaking out if it was the key to my cage.

For what it is worth, I have mailed things to Canada from Maine before.
Not only did it take over a month to get there, Sometimes the mail never got there.
I definitely would not depend on the mail. Unless you have a spare key at home.

Yes, in a way it is funny how long it might take to get here, if at all. The last time I mailed it, it beat me home. It only took 3 business days. We do have a spare so I’m not freaking out.

In a fantasy version of these events, my neighbours wife would get my mail by mistake. Knowing what the key was for, confront my partner and then guide her how to be a keyholder and all the advantages
