True, and even with one of those little brass locks, there is less metal than in the zipper of a pair of jeans so they won't set off the metal detector; not enough mass.

New (non custom) metal cage, with the biggest ring size available (50mm). Not really anywhere I can go with that.
It is a hinged ring that gives more room at the top, which I like, but I think it's the hinge mechanism that's rubbing slightly under my sack. Balls are blue, but nice and warm and there's no pain there.
Trying lots of various creams and lotions, going to try some surgical tape to cover the hinge see if that works.

This is what I found as well. Started with a much larger ring (50mm+, which was still a challenge to get on), and now I'm down to a 40mm ring (which is a painful challenge to get on and off). Chafing is gone, though. And hard ons no long pull the same awful way.

Your ring may be too large. Regarding the hinge, you can get a latex (or non-allergic alternative) tube that covers the hinge. I have a few from when I used a 50mm hinged ring, and it makes a big difference. Basically, the short piece of tube goes on the ring, and covers the hinge. Problem solved.

Have been quiet horny these Days. Im quiet more on edge then usuall.

Can I ask how far you downsized in ring size? I’ve recently changed from 45mm (definitely too big) to 42mm, and while I’m not going to ever slip out of this - I still feel it move pretty significantly when I get erect. That tells me the ring could probably go down slightly more, but it’s difficult enough to put on right now that I’m concerned much smaller and it won’t go on/will be too small

 

I went from a 50mm ring to a 45mm. Running a hot bath definitely relaxes the scrotum to make for easier placing of the ring

Middle one is my new cage bought specially for Locktober, the other two are base rings from cages I've worn short term before I had the chat with my wife (now KH) a couple of weeks ago.

I find those hinges to be a problem. When I've tried them longer term, I wrap the hinge in plumber's teflon tape until the groove of the hinge is obscured. I've also started with first aid tape, then covered that with the teflon tape. Eventually the tape gets contaminated by bosily secretions and has to be replaced, but one could probably make it through Locktober without becoming offensive smelling at a short distance.
