Tonight while having a supervised, uncaged shower, I dropped the PA pin of Mistress' 5B down the drain. My Queen took out the security screw as she does every time I'm allowed a supervised clean. I took the pin out, removed the cage, put the pin back in the cage and went to put it all on the shower caddy while I soaped up. As I put the device down, the pin fell out and we heard one click. We looked everywhere in the bathroom to no avail. The pin was nowhere to be found. Must be a 1 in a million chance of that pin hitting the drain grate in just the right way for it to go down there. The holes in the drain are really quite small. So now I'm uncaged and feeling rather naked without her cage...
After 4 years I feel weird when I am not caged. I have tried to stop wearing it but that never lasts. It is the same as wearing my wedding ring. I hardly notice it until it is gone. As for drains, I have dropped a lot of things down them so now I do not work with small pieces around them or I cover the drains. I have dropped pills that cost me $35 each down a drain and a lot of less expensive medication. I have a security screw too and what I do is screw it part of the way in before I lay it down in the shower. I do have two screws though that came with it so there is always a backup. Is it a pain to get a new screw now? I know that if I lost both screws I would have to send the whole cage back and wait a few weeks. I keep a Holy Trainer as a backup. Might we worthwhile to buy one of the inexpensive Chinese clones out there for backup.
most drains have a trap. If you have access to the trap you can take it apart and it should be in there. Or you could try using something magnetic to fish down the hole and get it that way. Most auto parts stores sell a tool thats 2ft long and has a magnet on the end.
Stainless steel isn't magnetic and its in a floor drain. So short of ripping the shower floor out, it's found a new home
I would hope you can still get at the trap from underneath . Some stainless is magnetic some not. Xx Wendy
There should be a place to get to the trap, sometimes there is a clean out nut to remove. Did you remove the cover and take a look down in. There is also a tool to reach down in places and push on the top and little metal fingers pop out so you can catch the part and pull it out.
Meh. Tried most of the ideas suggested. The shopvac is something I hadn't thought of! I was going to upsize the PA pin anyway so we contacted Ms Lori and have already shipped it off for modification. Thanks eveyone!
